Excercise about Musn't and Needn't

Mustn't and needn't (don't / doesn't have to) are always being confused (sie werden immer verwechselt). Here is an exercise to help you keep the two apart.

You mustn't eat too many sweets - Du darfst nicht soviele Bonbons essen.
You needn't give your brother any sweets - Du brauchst deinem Bruder keine Bonbons geben.

Please fill in the gaps with "mustn't or needn't" and put the verb in its right form.
Example:
You __________ (eat) too many sweets.
You mustn't eat too many sweets.
You ___________ (give) your brother any sweets
You needn't give your brother any sweets

1. You  (do) the washing up today. I'll do it for you.

2. You  (walk) on the grass. You must keep to the path.

3. Jeremy  (be) late for school or the teachers will be cross.

4. Jill  (go) to school today, because she has a sore throat.

5. You  (talk) to your parents like that. It's rude.

6. Sara  (do) all her homework at once. She can have a break in-between.

7. John  (eat) all his vegetables, because children don't like them.

8. I  (forget) to water the flowers this evening.

9. Parents  (hit) their children.

10. Don't worry! You  (read) the whole book today, just a chapter.
